How 52 Faeries Became A "Thing"
The 52 Faeries Project started as a way to showcase the average size of my preferred canvas -- I often get asked how "tiny" my tiny paintings are, and since everyone knows how big a playing card is, I figured painting on playing cards would be an easy way to show people how small my average canvas is.
There are 52 cards in a deck, and 52 weeks in a year. I challenged myself to paint one card every week. I figured it would be a fun way to get in some practice and spread a few smiles amongst my loyal FlitterFans. About ten cards in, people began asking when I'd print the deck. Honestly, I hadn't considered creating a playable card deck -- these little paintings were only meant to show how small my tiny painting collection was!! But once the idea got into my head, I couldn't let it go. So, here we are -- creating the first ever deck of FlitterMouse cards! |
